At Music at Heart, we believe every child is musical. We aim to nurture a child’s lifelong love of music through high-quality, accessible musical experiences in the earliest years. Using the Kodály approach, we create community through singing, movement and playful musicianship in our gentle and inclusive classes.
Our online resources for families
We are committed to widening access to high-quality music education from birth to age 7, and nurturing the parent/carer-child relationship is central to our philosophy. Music at Heart ‘at home’ is an affordable online resource we have created to support parents to gain a deeper understanding of how to support your child’s development through the wonders of music. We also have a free YouTube channel with many simple songs and rhymes for you to sing with your children!
Bespoke CPD & Teacher Training
Are you a headteacher or nursery manager, looking to support your staff team with musical confidence and improve your whole school music offer? We work with early years and school leaders both nationally and internationally on curriculum design, offering bespoke, in person and online staff CPD.
Are you a classroom teacher, nursery staff member or visiting music teacher working with 0-7s in nurseries and schools? Do you lack confidence with singing, or want to learn practical ways of adapting musical learning for very young children?
Our affordable, online teacher CPD programme can support you! Access our in depth videos with 40+ hours of songs, short, simple explanations of how to use them in your classroom, with curriculum link ideas, downloadable song sheets, an introduction to Kodály music pedagogy and how it can support your early years music curriculum. This subscription also includes complimentary tickets to our monthly live zoom CPD sessions, and recorded videos of all our past zoom sessions.

Dare to dream with us! Together with new charity Leeds Community Music & Arts Spaces (in formation), we are working to secure East Lodge, Potternewton Park, Leeds as a permanent home for Music at Heart, and a hub for other local arts organisations — a space for music, community and early years creativity.

Work with us
Are you a classically-trained musician, aged 28 and over, with a degree in music (2:1 or above) and at least three years of professional playing/vocal experience, with a natural gift for working with children? Our competitive, audition-only, accredited, year-long Music at Heart Method CPD course is available to a small number of exceptional, professional musicians wishing to train as early years music teachers and join our team.
